Things to know about pnt.me

We packed a bunch of new features into this latest version of pnt.me, and we've got a lot more to add over the coming weeks. This is a quick list of what we've covered so far.

  1. Tweetie 2 Integration
Do you have an iPhone? Do you use Tweetie 2 to read and write tweets? Sweet so do we! Would you like to use Tweetie 2 with your pnt.me account? We've got you covered.

  2. Live Updating
The link details page now updates and tracks clicks in real time. This is one of our favorite new features. In fact, it can be a little addicting posting your pnt.me link to Twitter or Facebook and then watching all the clicks come rolling in.
  3. Twitter Search
A lot of you post your pnt.me links to Twitter (they're great for that!), so we added Twitter search to our link details page. Now you can follow along and watch as the link you've posted gets retweeted and spread throughout the Twitter community. Tweets on the link details page are updated in realtime, naturally, just like clicks.
  4. Public Links
If you choose, you can now make your list of shortn'd links public. Everyone's links are set to private by default, but checking the "I would like to allow links I've shortn'd to be viewed publicly" box on your account page will allow you to send anyone you like to your page. Public pages also have RSS feeds, so you and your followers can keep track of all your links in your favorite news reader as well.
  5. Custom Tokens
If you want to short'n a link in a way that makes it memorable, just choose your own custom token. The "pick your own" option is available to registered users on the front page of the site. The tokens have to be between 3 and 10 characters long, and only contain letters and numbers. This has been one of our most popular features since we rolled it out a few weeks ago.
  6. The Bookmarklet
There should be no need to update your old copies of the bookmarklet, but here's a new one if you like: pnt.me bookmarklet. It's still the best and fastest way to short'n a link anywhere on the web.
  7. Semi-Colons
Adding a semi-colon (;) to the end of any pnt.me link will send the person who clicks on it to the link details page instead of to the final "destination" link. This is a good thing to do if you're not sure where the link might be taking you, or you want to be sure it's safe to open (say) at work. It's also a quick and easy way to get to the details page to watch the link's stats roll in in realtime.
  8. Reporting Abuse
If you believe that a link has been created as part of a scam, links to illegal content, or whathaveyou just "report" the link. When the system receives enough reports it no longer sends people who click that particular link to their destination automatically, rather it stops them first at the link details page with a warning that the community has some concerns about the destination link. We also monitor reports by hand, so we'll look into the situation personally as well.
